Borrow a book / World Book Day

Thee library Mabuku will soon start lending out books to the community.
With the number of books been acquired, children will now have access to the books.
The targeted communities will be Nyumba yanga (Woodlands Extension), Bauleni and Twin Palm extension) .
However, for other communities who would like to borrow books, they can call 0967814765,  send an email to ruthchimbala@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page Thee LIbrary Mabuku.


World Book Day March, 5th. Aim at buying at least one book on this day.

National Author's Day is on November 1st  .
This is day that has been set to celebrate authors all around the nations.
I st November, in 2019, falls on a Friday. Do Celebrate authors  and share the names of authors and books they have written.

International Literacy Day


This year marks the 51st anniversary of International Literacy Day .
Literacy as it is defined as the quality or state of being literate, especially the ability to read and write.
Thee Library Mabuku's aim is to provide books and information to ppeople, in odrer for this cause to be acheived.

Implementations of offering these services are under way and are on course.

Buy a child a book each month and build a history to tell by the end of the  year .Notable  Leaders are created by the number of events that happen in their life and are  recorded in books.
Encourage children to have diaries, to write their stories, so that one day they can  prove their existence.

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATION



World Book Day
Also known as International Day of the Book or World Book Days). This is a yearly event on April 23rd, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright. World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on 23 April 1995.



In other schools, World Book day is celebrated for a week. It is called Book week celebration ( 5 -6 days). Different activities are prepared to celebrate this wonderful initiative.

MELVIL DEWEY



He was born Melville Louis Kossouth Dewey, in Adams Center, New York on December 10, 1851. But, most students, teachers and librarians know him as Melvil Dewey--the man who invented a method of classifying knowledge for the purpose of cataloging books and other library materials.

From Amhearst College, Dewey went to Columbia College (later univeristy) and also instituted his book classification system there. From 1883 to 1888, Dewey was head librarian at Columbia College, where he also set up the first institution to train librarians. He was founder of the "Library Journal" and "Library Notes" periodicals. And, he was one of the founders of the American Library Association.
